Opening a new location: what does your bookkeeper need?
Your bookkeeper needs six things: the entity and EIN, the bank account, your register set up to report to the books, payroll setup, sales tax registration and the opening date. Get those to us early and the new store shows up right from its first month.
Short Zoom call · No books or reports needed
The checklist
- Entity and EIN. New entity or the same one? Send the paperwork through the secure portal. Never by email.
- Bank account. Which account the store's deposits and bills run through. We get bank access through the portal.
- Register and sales. We map your register to your books: sales by category, card vs. cash, sales tax.
- Payroll. New hires, pay rates, and any new state or local tax setup.
- Sales tax. Registered for the new location, with the filing schedule.
- Opening date. So the first month's numbers land in the right place.
Then what
We add the store to your file the same way as the others. It gets its own column on your report from month one.
Start with a short call.
No books or reports needed. You leave knowing what's broken, a ballpark range, and a dated next step.
